It’s no secret that the rentals in Bellevue, and even the city in general are a great place to call home and build a happy life. It seems that’s even being reflected in some of Bellevue’s most notable large and mid-sized employers, as more than one Bellevue company has made the Thrillist list for Top 100 Companies With the Happiest Employees in 2019. How did this honor come about, you might wonder, and which of Bellevue’s employers was lucky enough to make the cut? That’s exactly what we’ll be looking at today, as we take a closer look at Thrillist’s picks and the amazing Bellevue companies that were selected as some of the nation’s happiest.

Balancing Work and Life in Bellevue

If you take a closer look at the Thrillist article, you’ll see they already laid out a great definition for companies that respect their employees’ time and keep them happy, as these are “businesses that put their employees first, meeting their needs with benefits, perks, and work-life balance.” Using anonymous rankings gathered from employees at different companies, the team at workplace monitoring site Comparably put together a list of 100 companies that fit the bill:

“Comparably’s Happiest Employees Awards are derived from ratings provided by employees that have anonymously rated their companies on between September 12, 2018 and September 12, 2019...A combination of compensation, work-life balance, perks and benefits, and overall culture scores.”

The leader, as far as large companies (with more than 500 employees) goes was Zoom Video Communications in San Jose. Topping the list of midsize companies (fewer than 500 employees) was in San Francisco. Major cities, for the most part, dominated this listing, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a strong showing from Bellevue.

Bellevue-based T-Mobile was able to secure the number 10 spot on the list of large companies with the happiest employees, while Smartsheet came in number 41 overall on that particular list. Bellevue again appears in the midsize company rankings, with Assurance coming in at number 43 on the list. It all goes to show that while Bellevue may not be the biggest city on the block, its policies and companies are doing their share to put the needs of the people first.

It’s yet another reason you’ll also find Bellevue high on other positive ranking lists, as the city, in its forward thinking wisdom, tends to attract those who value happiness, and the way of doing things in the city is geared toward keeping most employees in tune with both their personal and professional selves in a big way.
