There’s no denying how delightful a sweet treat can be, and to all you candy, pastry, and ice cream aficionados out there, you know it pays to have a go-to spot (or two) that you can head to when you’ve got the urge for something sugary. If you’ve just moved into a place for rent in Bellevue, though, and you’re new to the area, you might need a bit of help in identifying what your best options around town are. Thankfully, we’re here to help, and we’ve got the lowdown on the Bellevue sweet shops you’ll want to keep your eye on for the foreseeable future.

    The Sugar Factory

Located on 8th Street, the Sugar Factory, in a word, is decadent. They’ve got locations around the world, including cities like Las Vegas, New York City, Bahrain, Chicago, Miami, Dubai, Orlando and Manila, so their reputation is one that precedes them.

It might also be part of the reason they’ve received a long list of celebrity endorsements (both official and unofficial) the likes of which include Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Britney Spears, Drake, Nicole Scherzinger, Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria and Rupert Grint. Add to that the hefty amount of media attention the Sugar Factory gets, and you can see why this is known as place to see and be seen.

But what of the sweets? By most accounts, they’re pretty good, and beyond newer menu items like the “Princess Make a Wish” and “Cookie Monster Make a Wish,” their signature “Couture Pops” are a hot ticket. And if you’re not in the mood for anything too sweet, you can always settle for a pancake or crepe instead.

    The Sweet Factory

Just how many factories are there in Bellevue, exactly? Not to be confused with the Sugar Factory, the Sweet Factory, located in Bellevue Square, is a franchise known across the United States for having a giant selection with tons of unique candy from all across the world. On the whole, they’ve got years of experience in the game, and the know-how to back up their boasts of being candy experts. If you’re looking for a quick way to get your hand on in-demand candy, trying to buy candy in bulk, or even if you need something sugar-free or kosher, these guys have you covered, for a pretty reasonable price too.

    Lolli & Pops

Back in 2016, Lolli & Pops was the hot new candy store that just popped up in Bellevue Square. Though the brand hails from San Francisco, they’ve made a name for themselves in Bellevue offering a wide range of tasty treats, from macarons and popcorn to chocolate bars and soda. They’ve even specialty items from Europe and Asia if you’re a collector looking to round out their stock with something unique. Their most vaunted delicacies, however, include these six items: the Breakfast in Bed Truffle Box, Champagne Gummy Bears, Marshmallow Squares, Specialty Popcorn, Gourmet Chocolate Bars, and Honey Sticks.

    See’s Candies

See’s is one of those big candy companies with a long history. This particular history traces back to Mary and Charles See, a mother/son team who set up shop in Los Angeles in the early 1920s, and have always emphasized giving customers a high quality products. The Bellevue Location on 8th Street is no exception, and they’ve got some of the best chocolates you’ll find in town. While chocolate is indeed a specialty, you’ll also want to look out for lollipops, brittle, toffee, and other treats while you’re on the premises, as they’ve got a flair for those as well.

    Godiva Chocolate

For an alternate take on chocolate done right, you’ll want to pay a visit to the Godiva Chocolatier in Bellevue Square. You probably already know a bit about Godiva’s reputation, and how they established themselves in the American market in the 1960s, and have risen to the top as one of the biggest names in chocolate across the globe since their inception in 1926. If you’re after that delicious, Belgian-style chocolate taste, this is the place, and you might want to stock up on a few of those chocolate gift boxes while you’re at it — just in case.

    Oh Chocolate

Another entrant in the Bellevue chocolate wars is local favorite Oh Chocolate. With their flagship location on 76th Street over on Mercer island, this family business has been whipping up artisan chocolate in the Seattle area since 1985. The full family story is quite the read, but to make that long story short, these guys make great chocolate — some of the world’s finest — and the variety is such that you can always find something to sate you if you’re in the mood for chocolate. What’s more, they even host classes for those interested in learning how the chocolate is made (or who just want to play around and have some fun).

    Fran’s Chocolates

Chic and boutique, this chocolate shop, the brainchild of Fran Bigelow, is emblematic of how tasty sweets can be when they’re the product of a mastermind’s singular vision. Fran has retail outlets in Seattle, Bellevue, and even Japan, and the common thread is that the chocolate is delicious all around. Caramels, truffles, chocolate bars, fruits and nuts — Fran’s has it all, along with gift boxes, collections, and more. Some of those boxes and collections can range on the pricey side, but believe us, the taste justifies the expense, and you’ll feel you’ve got your money’s worth after taking a bit of this fine chocolate.
